Season two of the Maritime Women’s Basketball Association is under a month away, and the full 38 game regular season schedule has been released. The reigning Legacy Cup champs Halifax Hornets along with the original five teams return for another season, culminating in the championship taking place at Saint John June 16-18.

The season kicks off with the Fredericton Freeze and Saint John Port City Fog playing a home and home back-to-back on May 6th and 7th, and the Halifax Hornets traveling to the Windsor Edge on May 7th. The Moncton Mystics make their season debut on May 11th when they host Port City on May 11th at 7pm.

For fans wanting to see all teams in action, all six will be at Fredericton on May 13th and 14th before they continue their individual schedules.

The inaugural season saw the Halifax Thunder finish the regular season 10-0, the Hornets finish 8-2, Windsor Edge 4-6, Fredericton Freeze 4-6, Saint John Port City Fog 2-8 and the Moncton Mystics 2-8.

Which teams will come out on top after the MWBA’s second season concludes? Will the Hornets repeat as champions or will their cross city rivals the Thunder who met them in the championship take home the cup? Will another team stamp their ownership as the top team in the league? The second season of the growing MWBA will surely be one to follow.
